When it comes to building residual income, the places that you choose to get started at can make all of the difference when it comes to your success rate. There are people who end up spinning their wheels for months if not longer working on a project that never really turns a profit. This happens to many people who want to start their own business. It is often a case of trial and error.

Now you may be scratching your head about starting your own business and building residual income. In reality when you are working on building residual income for yourself, you are starting your own business. Now that we have that out of the way, you need to take serious consideration of where you are going to start on this journey. There are many different ways to build residual income, so let's get started.

Revenue Sharing Sites

One of the basic ways to start building residual income is with revenue sharing sites. These are web sites that are owned by others that allow you to post your content. In exchange for putting up the site and maintaining it, the site will get a percentage of the ad revenue that is earned with your content. The amounts can vary widely from one revenue sharing site to another. For example, Hubpages will get 40% of the revenue off any article that put on the site while you earn the other 60%. Choosing the right revenue sharing sites to build residual income with can be a project in and of itself. However, this is a good place to start especially if you do not have money to invest in your business to start with.

Blogging

The second most popular place for beginners to start building residual income is with blogs. There are many ways that you can start a blog for little to no money and can get it off the ground. You will post great content around a specific niche and earn all of the revenue produced from it. If you can build a blog up to a good amount of traffic then you can easily build residual income in this way. The thing about blogs is that you need to update the content often on them to keep them fresh.

Niche Web Sites

Many people think that building niche web sites is the best way to build residual income. They own the site and put up all of the content that they need on it. Once the promotion and monetizing is done, you can often put the site on cruise control. This means just periodic maintenance. Some people have built many static sites that they are earning on regularly with little to no work put in after the fact.

MLM

The MLM businesses often get a bad rap. These are business models that have you selling a product or service as well as recruiting people into the company. This recruitment is where you can truly build residual income in this model. The people that you share your business model with become your down line. You often earn a percentage of their sales for the time that they are in the business. You can also build residual income with this system if you have a product that customers can reorder from you time and time again. Replenishment orders can make you a lot of money if you set them up correctly.
